25 August 1170

Richard de Clare, known as Strongbow, marries Aoife, the daughter of Diarmaid Mac Murchadha, deposed king of Leinster, as part of an agreement made two years earlier to solicit Strongbow's help in regaining his crown. Through this marriage, Strongbow became heir to the throne of Leinster - the first Anglo-Norman to claim rights in Ireland..... and the start of the colonization of the island.

1798 - French Revolutionary General Jean Humbert, in alliance with United Irishman rebels and having declared an Irish Republic, defeats a government force at Collooney Co.Sligo, but suffers serious casualties; Rebels in Co.Longford attack Granard, but are routed; Rebels in Co.Westmeath occupy Wilson's Hospital.

1690 - Having failed to capture Limerick, William of Orange leaves Ireland

2022 - Similarly, Johnson is finally crowbarred out of No.10.

2022 - Unfortunately, Queen Truss I, takes possession of the Tory party and is imposed as PM #GodHelpUS
