A continuing tactic from the Tory playbook, pevaricate and delay until "nothing can be done"........
Today on BBC R4, Steve Brine, Tory MP for Winchester and Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, dismissed union complaints about the recent "negotiations" and said that they were wrong to complain about last year's pay review, because "That" "is already done. We are less than three months from the end of the current pay review process". So that's it. regardless of the fact that the pay increase was based on information supplied before Christmas 2021, not released until September 2022 and obviously falls far short of a realistic proposal given the current state of affairs, the unions must just suck it up and "hope" for a better outcome next year...... Although the unions rejected the pay awards as soon as they were made and have been seeking to renegotiate, this is "impossible" because the government has already committed to paying the recommendations in full (where there's a first time for everything)......
Once again, we are faced with a crisis driven by Tory dogma and a refusal to negotiate in good faith by a government that blames everything but itself for the state of the British economy and social fabric.
