In other news, there are now so many exceptions to the Trump tarifs that no-one really knows what's going on any more.
The headline news is that mobile phone imports from China are now exempted, because Americans don't want to pay for the tarifs on American products that are manufactured abroad to keep the cost down.
But there are plenty of other exceptions, particularly where the balance of trade is in America's favour.
At this point, Trump is just arguing with Wall Street. The rest of the world can sit back and wait to see who wins. No need to apply retaliatory tarifs yet.
