Inspired by stormy days by the sea and secluded lighthouses Great Plains Autumn/Winter 10 reflects on early, 1930's wartime Britain. Fabrics are draped, feminine with delicate vintage embroideries, cashmere blend knits and plaids that move into tactile moleskins and angora with a streamlined silhouette.
The richness and tones of Old Pullman train carriages and the Orient Express inspire a ladylike collection where simplicity combines with luxury to create a wardrobe of individually coveted pieces to carry you through the season in effortless style, from perfectly tailored dresses to knitted capes in warm autumnal hues.
The range is a nostalgic celebration of womanliness with dresses and skirts perfectly accentuating the figure. Waists are defined with paneling and skirts are given a tulip structure to flatteringly accentuate a woman's curves in vintage rose prints, tweed and flannel. Wrap detail dresses in tweed are given side button detailing evoking an air of 30's military tailoring in hues of grey and black, team with a leather ladylike bag to complete the look. Shoulder pads are added to long sleeve printed dresses with a ribbon tie waist.
Formal tailoring is key for the season as highlighted on the catwalks - trousers play an important role, easy, elegant and above all flattering. From straight leg, front pleat to wide leg in wool, tweed and flannel. Team with a single breasted blazer nipped in at the waist and a cowl neck jersey top.
There is an air of new restraint for Autumn where simplicity combines with luxury from 60's style shift dresses with front pocket detailing, Breton stripe knits, wool tank tops, 100% cotton cardigans and classic cut outerwear.
